Dear Friend,
For over twenty years PACE has provided an Arts service in Renfrewshire for young people. Our aim and ethos has been to provide young people with the life skills which will assist them in their quest to be all they can be. We aim to give them the confidence and communication skills which will help them excel in whatever they choose to do be and, I hope you will agree, to have some fun and laughs along the way!
Although the company continues to provide this service to all of the community we are deeply concerned about its long term sustainability. With wide and deep cuts in public spending, and amidst a recession, we continue within the same financial boundaries as we have always endured receiving very little, less than 1% of our running costs in funding, a situation that will quite simply not allow PACE to survive.
PACE is in very real danger, and this is the reason we are reaching out to our friends, members and our ex-members who at some time may have felt the benefits of PACE.
It is amazing the diversity of jobs and careers undertaken by PACE (or PYT!) graduates. We have ex members making their name in the acting industry, singers, lawyers, doctors teachers etc etc. We believe that every one of our ex-members has taken something away from Youth Theatre, be it confidence, key skills, fond memories, or even a friend for life. We want the 1700 young people who currently attend, and the thousands of young people in future years, to have the same experience. Similarly we want to continue to offer our wider project services to those whom we have served for many years in schools and groups throughout the country.
To secure the future of PACE and to enable us to continue to give young people the positive PACE experience that we hope you had, we need your support. The support of people who have been part of our journey. The support of people who see the importance of an organisation designed to inspire and encourage young people to achieve and be determined to succeed in all they put their minds to, both as successful learners and positive role models for the youth of today. In short the support of people like you. As you know we believe passionately in PACE and in its future.
